VW Opens Ningbo Car Factory and LIOS Installs DE.TECT Fire Detection to Monitor 90000 Square Meter Assembly Line

Volkswagen's new car factory in Ningbo city will have a capacity of 300,000 units per year, and will be an important strategic pillar for expanding sales in the world's largest car market, the German car group said recently.
At its Ningbo plant, which is situated close to the city of Shanghai, Volkswagen is assembling primarily the Skoda Superb, but is also planning to extend production to its own VW models later on, the carmaker added.
LIOS' line type fibre optic heat detection product DE.TECT was selected by Volkswagen for fire detection of the assembly line facilities at its Ningbo plant. In a joint assessment by Volkswagen and the local fire bureau LIOS’ linear heat detection system succeeded based on its reliability, fast response and its high false alarm security compared to other technologies like infrared detectors or aspirating smoke detectors.
